Following this story today.. Hundreds burned alive in a jail in Honduras.. the massive fire swept through the prison in Comayagua, in central Honduras. Conflicting reports are circulating about the number of people who have been killed–some say 200+ and others far outnumber that in the 300+ or higher range.
Some prisoners escaped the fire by breaking through the roof of the jail… fire fighters could not extinguish the blaze for over an hour–no word yet on what the actual cause is.. some reports say electrical issues.
What is known: Many prisoners were in their jail cells, unable to escape, and burned beyond recognition. Some inmates rioted in an attempt to escape their final demise.. media in Honduras said the riot broke out prior to the fire.
