Premiere Radio grabs its proper cup of tea and ends relationship with John B. Wells

For years, some have heralded John B. Wells’ hosting style on Coast to Coast Am as the best since Art Bell. Others, however, have often decried his divisive topics and politically charged Saturday night banter.

But now it’s all over.

John B. Wells has hosted the Saturday Coast to Coast AM since Ian Punnett retired due to tinnitus. Over recent months, Wells has even filled in for main host George Noory on Friday nights, and recently even picked up some Sundays in place of George Knapp as he was recovering from a near deadly bout with sepsis.

But now, according to Wells himself on his Caravan to Midnight webpage, Premiere radio has decided to end its reportedly rocky relationship with Wells.

The post said,

Coast to Coast AM has decided to go a “different direction” on Saturday night. I am very happy and honored to have been a member of the C2C family as a regular host since January 7, 2012.

Wells continued to thank listeners for support,

I want to thank the listeners for their support and encouragement over these last two years of regular Saturday night broadcasts. The change that began in 2012 continues, is ever accelerating, and has necessitated this change as well.

Perhaps hinting at some of the back room reasons that he was taken from his bridge of the mothership:

I invite those who enjoyed or otherwise found value in the programs I hosted and the topics we discussed to join me for more on my new endeavor, Caravan To Midnight. Again, thank you all so very much. May you be blessed and remember to Make Ready for What’s to Come!!!!

Wells went on to describe ways that people can still hear him: Paying a yearly subscription fee to hear his Caravan to Midnight online program, something he began doing while he was still hosting Coast to Coast AM.

Already, John B. Wells has been removed from the official hosts section on Coast to Coast AM, now only featuring George Noory and George Knapp. At this moment, there is no official word as to who will replace Wells on Saturday nights. Initial rumors indicated that Darkness Radio host Dave Schrader may be the replacement, but according to a post on Bellgab, he emailed the user a denial that he will be.. Other speculation has been rampant on Bellgab regarding Wells, as it is with other hosts and topics relative to Art Bell and Coast to Coast AM. Specifically on Wells’, users seemed to concur that Wells was toxic often in nature, even promoting a conspiracy theory of gun grabs after the Sandy Hook massacre.

The comments section on the Caravan to Midnight Facebook page is rocking with comments. One woman named ‘Kelly’ said she emailed Noory asking why Wells left. She wrote this was her response: “I just got an email from Noory’s e-mail address stating Wells “left to pursue his own show.” Did you quit or were you fired, or was it a mutual parting where they weren’t willing to let you have CTM and host C2C?”
Wells responded in a further comment: “I did not quit FYI.” Then directing his comment directly to ‘Kelly,’ he said, “Do not believe what you were told.”

With Wells’ departure, it has created a mystery: Who will replace him and what ‘other direction’ is Premiere Radio attempting to take?
Good luck John.
May your Caravan to Midnight be everything you wanted it to be.

  1. Many of us are fed up with George Noory, his constant egotistical politically correct posturing and apparent IQ of a carrot. Let's hope John B Wells is on every night because he will take a good market share from informed C2C listeners tired of a host who never pays attention to his guests and is dumb as a post.

  2. George Noory is terrible. You cannot hear what he says at the end of his sentences as he tails off. Now that Wells is gone, there is only Knapp as a crumb of comfort. Good luck John B and shame on Premiere and Snoory

  3. Loved John B. Wells show, and he was right in his comments and opinions. He is intelligent and well informed and will be missed! I may just give up Coast to Coast entirely now. This is so unfair!

  4. Did you see this about John B Wells:Headline:” Top-rated Host of Top Talk Show Fired — Staff and higher-ups objected to me talking about Fukushima — “I mentioned Fukushima every chance I got” despite that “http://enenews.com/top-rated-host-top-talk-show-fired-staff-higher-ups-objected-talking-about-fukushima-mentioned-fukushima-every-chance-despite-audio
