Prayers and solemn thoughts go to the family of Valerie Reyes.. all of the morbid and macabre details being showcased through mainstream media must be destroying their mourning and healing.. May God grant this crime to be solved..
In the mean time, the morbid details revealed on CNN and other various news networks tonight..
Days before her body was found inside a suitcase near a Connecticut road, Valerie Reyes called her mother terrified someone would kill her.
“She was just really scared, very frightened,” her mother, Norma Sanchez, told CNN affiliate WABC.
The 24-year-old had been living in a basement apartment in New Rochelle, New York, for some time but had recently grown anxious and even felt paranoid of being alone there.
“I’m afraid someone is going to murder me,” Reyes told her mother.
But it’s unclear why Reyes was afraid. Sanchez said her daughter didn’t mention whether she was scared of anyone in particular.
Tuesday, a group of highway workers found Reyes’ body stuffed into a red suitcase in the affluent town of Greenwich, Connecticut — about 14 miles from her apartment.
Reyes went missing on January 29 2019.. Flyers were placed around New York City and friends and family pleaded with people on social media to help find her..
A week later highway workers doing routine work found her body in a red suitcase..
The bag was about 15 to 20 feet off the shoulder of a road in a quiet neighborhood. When they opened the bag, they found a woman with her hands and feet bound, authorities said.
Norma Sanchez revealed her daughter battled depression and anxiety, but she became incredibly paranoid shortly before her disappearance.
‘She was very scared, very frightened,’ Sanchez told The Journal.
‘She didn’t mention anything or no one specific. She just said, ‘I’m scared. I’m paranoid, mommy. I’m getting anxiety attacks’.
‘She was having a hard time talking.’ Her daughter refused to specify why she felt the way she did..
The Barnes & Noble store clerk had broken up with her boyfriend five days earlier, according to Sanchez. ‘I asked her why do you feel this way? Was there someone at your house?’ She asked about her daughter’s ex-boyfriend but still Reyes told her mother ‘no, it wasn’t him’.
Reyes did however reveal that she didn’t feel safe alone in her apartment, and expressed her concern at the murders of young women in the state.
‘I’m worried someone is going to murder me,’ Reyes then allegedly blurted out.
The next day she failed to show up for work in Scarsdale.
Her family hired a private detective to locate her whereabouts, who managed to track her to a Manhattan ATM at 2am. The 24-year-old’s card was also used that morning at a different ATM, though it isn’t yet clear whether she used the card or someone else.
Eight days later police found the suitcase with her body..
