There are a few thoughts going around my head tonight after watching Pres. Obama addressed the nation.
The first thing I am struck by is probably quite dumb to even mention, but it bothers me: He never sits at the desk in the Oval Office to address us, instead he typically stands at a podium.. Bush did this two on a few occasions, but I just don’t like it.. To me that large desk with those bland drapes behind him and the photographs of his wife and children provide a more commanding platform for a leader to address the people..
But that really is not what mattered tonight..
We sure have come along way since 9/11/2001, and along way since Benghazi last 9/11..
Somehow Vladimir the Impaler Putin has managed to broker some form of a diplomatic solution to Syria, has backed Barack Obama into a strange corner, and has delayed a US strike on that nation..
Tonight on CNN, Andrew Sullivan told Anderson Cooper that the Obama speech persuaded him to back war.. Or whatever it is we would call it..
I do not know if it feels like the run-up to war or not, as suddenly the table has turned. The speech tonight that Obama gave was awkward and strange..
What seemed like a sure bet only a day ago suddenly turned into a doubtful course of action throughout the past 24 hours thanks to mother Russia..
No word from Vlad on what Edward Snowden thanks, I am sure the powers that be know what he thinks.
Meanwhile, the leader of the free world has told us to download videos and watch children be killed by chemical weapons.
What a strange, creepy, and truly frightening world we live in..
